Along with AlloMachines, the leader in remote-controlled Vending Machines (VM), we were nominated for the Popai Awards during the Marketing at Retail trade fair March 30–April 1 in Paris.
PauseCafé TV, a new way to communicate internally

AlloMachines developed “PauseCafé TV” to meet the needs of companies that manage multiple VMs located in company premises (beverage or confection dispenses, etc.). These companies were looking for a solution to promote products and generate additional customer sales while minimizing their need to intervene in-person (ex.: posting promotional stickers).
Inspired by TV programs, the VM broadcasts a series of short clips alternating between information, entertainment and advertisements, even quizzes, lottery etc. on built-in displays. Located in the cafeteria, the VM is at the heart of companies’ internal communication.
AlloMachines integrated Media4Display, our digital signage software, into its VMs to remotely control the programs broadcast on the displays.
“We selected the Media4Display software because it met our specifications perfectly. We needed a high-performance digital signage solution with 3G technology that would allow us to remotely control a wide variety of multimedia content. By integrating Media4Display into our VM product line, we set ourselves apart from our competitors,” said David Basinski – Digital Point of Sale Advertising, AlloMachines.
Customizable programs – scheduled and controlled broadcasts
The digital signage schedule is remotely controlled over a cellular network by the automaton manager. Multimedia sequences are updated daily over the Internet or over 3G connections. A standard display loop can be comprised of the following:a corporate film or promotional event
• news
• advertisements
• weather, traffic and similar information
• VM specific special offers, automatically managed using remote management
• entertainment (mini-series or AlloCiné film releases)
Our digital signage software, Media4Display, optimizes multimedia data transfers and reduces communication costs. With differential synchronization, only the changes are transferred, keeping bandwidth use to a minimum. Data synchronizations are scheduled to take place overnight and guaranteed to go smoothly. Furthermore, the statistics tools included with Media4Display provide managers with precise reports about content broadcasts.
Example of use:
Special events
In 2009, Kraft Foods (a leader in the roasted coffee and chocolate bar industries) was an Official Partner of the World Ski Championships held in Val d’Isère, France. To create the event on the station, they used VMs with digital signage to broadcast their promotional materials – a mini TV channel that included weather, competition results and a schedule of the day’s events. The VMs allowed Kraft Foods to promote their brand on the channel during the entire event, and to reinforce its positive image with consumers.
Institutional
Mokafé (experts in managing automated distribution of hot and cold beverages, sandwiches and baked goods) offered a new service to revitalize internal communications at La Poste, the French postal service.
They used VMs with digital signage to promote available products and services. The presentation is much more dynamic, setting them apart from standard merchandisers.
